摘要
Immobilization entails the heterogenization of enzymes, giving rise to heterogeneous biocatalysts easily reusable during several operation cycles and ready to be integrated into plug-flow reactors for continuous operation. In some particular cases, enzyme immobilization may also enhance other enzyme properties such as stability, activity, and selectivity. In this chapter, we have addressed several technical aspects that need to be considered to achieve highly active and stable immobilized enzymes for biotechnological applications in a diversity of areas such as chemical manufacturing, biosensing, and biomedicine.
