We thank Drs. Ganesh and Varma for the thoughtful comments on our article.1 In relation to the role of recanalization and costs after stroke, it is reasonable that the cost for patients who received recanalization therapy was increased compared with those who did not when recanalization therapy and 3-month modified Rankin Scale (mRS) were included as independent variables in the same model. As Drs. Ganesh and Varma mentioned, the cost-reducing effect of recanalization therapy seemed to vanish by adjustment for 3-month mRS.
