Determination of Total Carbohydrate and Uronic Acid Contents in Polysaccharides from Poria Cocos

Objective: To establish a UV method for the determination of total carbohydrate and uronic acid contents in polysaccharides from Poria cocos wolf.Method: The contents of total carbohydrate and uronic acid were measured by phenol-sulfuric acid and carbazole-sulphuric acid methods,respectively.Result: The contents of three polysaccharide fractions required by 95%,70% and 30% alcohol sedimentation were 67.96%,89.95% and 79.16%,respectively,and the contents of uronic acids in P.cocos were 8.00%,8.91% and 8.65%.Conclusion: These methods can be used for the quality control of polysaccharides from P.cocos.
