Summary Na 3 Fe(PO 4 ) 2 cristallizes in the monoclimc system with the space group C2/c and the parameters a = 9.0637(3) A, b = 5.0281(2) A, c = 13.8581(3) A, β = 91.434(2)° and Z = 4. The structure was determined from powder X-ray diffraction data collected on a Philips PW1710 diffractometer using CuKα 1 α 2 radiation. This structure is built up from layers of FeO 6 , octahedra and PO 4 tctrahedra sharing corners. These [Fe(PO 4 ) 2 3− ] n layers are very similar to the [Fe(MoO 4 ) 2 2− ] n layers in the NaFe(MoO 4 ) 2 compound.
