The preparation of platinum and rhodium complexes linked to silica via the nitrogen of an amine ligand was based on the reaction of the surface silanols with Cl3Si(CH2)3Cl followed by treatment with binary amines (morpholine, piperidine, pyrrolidine, diphenylamine and diethylamine). Chloroplatinic acid and tris(triphenylphosphine)chlororhodium(I) were applied as precursors of the supported catalysts. The effect of variation of the aminated supports on the catalysts' activity was tested in the hydrosilylation of allyl chloride and allyl chloroacetate (Pt-complexes) as well as 1-alkenes, e.g., 1-hexene, 1-heptene, 1-octene (Rh-complexes).
