In order to study the effect of cascading failures and interdependencies on infrastructure system vulnerability,this paper takes power and gas systems of a major city in China as an example,and studies vulnerability of interdependent systems under cascading failures using complex network theory. Structural and functional model as well as interdependent relationship is constructed to analyze global vulnerability and optimal interface. On this basis,an identification method of critical components is proposed to acquire critical elements of the systems. The results in this paper will be helpful to provide decision support on cascading failures control and system improvement.
