Structural adhesives have been utilised in diverse structural applications for the past few decades. The prime motive for using a structural adhesive is to eliminate stress concentration which occurs in mechanically fastened areas. Stress concentration elimination or reduction essentially improves the service life of the component. The factors affecting the durability of adhesive joints: various methods that can be employed to improve the durability, such as filler incorporation in adhesives; use of nanotechnology; and the effect of some nanoscale-based adhesives on durability enhancement are discussed in this chapter. It is evident from the published literature and real-time applications that moisture content in the atmosphere drastically affects adhesive joint efficiency. This chapter explains techniques used to eliminate moisture-related concerns. This article also highlights accelerated testing techniques utilised for faster data collection and provides detailed information regarding the effects of nanofillers on the strength and durability of joints.
