Enteric-coated mycophenolate sodium (EC-MPS, myfortic®) is a novel formulation designed to release MPA in the small intestine, and therefore to improve the GI tolerability of mycophenolic acid (MPA). EC-MPS 720 mg b.i.d. has earlier been shown to be therapeutically equivalent to mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) 1000 mg b.i.d. in de novo kidney recipients (M. Salvadori et al. Am J Transplant 2004;4:231–236).
