摘要
This chapter is mainly focused on presenting findings on the synthesis of cotton fiber and its structure. It includes the basics of the cotton fibers in terms of origin, classifications, major steps of cotton production and cultivation, surface modification, and solvents for cotton. Moreover, it is focused on chemical treatment of cotton fiber to study the bonding between the reinforcement and the matrix, using various chemical treatment processes. Structural properties of cotton fiber such as the constitution and molecular weight distributions, structure of the fiber, and microscopic image along physical characteristics of cotton fiber are reported studying various macro and microscopic structure of the cotton fiber. Different characterization methods of cotton fiber are reported, which include measurement of density, measurement of diameter, fiber fineness, investigation of radiographic dispersion, investigation of Fourier transformation by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric investigation, investigation of the scanning electron microscope, and investigation of the transmission electron microscope.
