This paper address navigational safety performance from safety culture perspective, by assessing attitudes and self-reported behaviour of deck officers. Building on Cooper's safety culture model, the influence of organisational safety culture on its members' safety behavior was investigated. Multiple dimensions of safety culture which derived from MTOI (Man, Technology, Organisation and Information) safety management system framework were used to evaluate safety culture on the Bridge, their correlations and possible associations with safety behaviours were further assessed from empirical data. Multiple regression analysis determined eight significant safety culture dimensions, among which safety required resources and communication on safety both were found to be positively associated with all the safety behaviour dimensions. Plausible effect of ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) transition, crew's age and rank on safety behaviour were also identified. The results provide theoretical and practical guidance to understand the key factors associating with safety performance on the Bridge.
