摘要
By inserting 2 three-dimensional (3D) printed interconnectors, a “pencil stack” is fabricated by electrically connecting 3 single solid oxide fuel cells in series. The open-circuit voltage exhibits higher than 3 V using this bamboo-like connecting mode. The interconnector consists of Ti-containing 316 stainless steel, and the weight of it varies only 0.5% at temperatures over the range of 25–800 °C under oxidation conditions. The outer diameter of the cell is 10 mm, while the thickness of the electrolyte is about 5 μm. When operated on hydrogen, the maximum power density of the 3-cells in series double its value compare with that of the cell with the same axial length. The 3-cells stack in series shows a maximum power of 11.5 W at 700 °C, which corresponds to a high power density of 0.36 W cm−2.
