Osteoarthritis of the hip affects over 30 million people globally and its prevalence has been steadily increasing in the past decades.1 There are no approved disease modifying drugs for osteoarthritis; therefore, once non-surgical options have been exhausted patients often turn to total joint arthroplasty to reduce pain and restore functional ability.2 Primary total hip arthroplasty is a remarkably successful procedure, with upwards of 90% of patients reporting favourable outcomes.3
