EFFICACY AND TOLERABILITY OF NATIVE TYPE-II COLLAGEN FOR JOINT HEALTH IN HEALTHY VOLUNTEERS: A RANDOMIZED DOUBLE-BLIND PLACEBO-CONTROLLED STUDY

Purpose (the aim of the study): In non-osteoarthritic individuals, the appearance of joint discomfort with physical activity is a potential indicator of initial joint degeneration. Native (undenatured) type-II collagen has been shown to help to protect joint cartilage and relieve joint pain in patients with OA, through an immune-mediated mechanism of oral tolerance. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of native (undenatured) type-II collagen in the joint function of healthy volunteers who experienced joint discomfort due to an intensive exercise protocol.
