Nowadays, and due to global warming, using air conditioners has increased tremendously leading to signifi-cant deteriorations in the climate and more demands for high power consumption. In this paper, a replacement system for air conditioners is proposed, which proved to be more eco-friendly, with less power consumption. The proposed system directly uses the sun to heat a thermal carrier, which is water in this case. In addition, another refrigeration kit, which is electrically powered, without a cooling agent (Freon), is used to cool the water. A control system is implemented to mix both hot and cold waters, based on their relevant temperatures and the desired temperature, which is manipulated by the user. Water is pumped through Copper pipes circulating in the sys-tem and laying on a sheet with high thermal conductivity. To control the temperature, a closed-loop control system is used to pump waters back into the system via adjusting the inlet of the water to two separate tanks, hot and cold, while preserving a certain height. An experimental miniature rig was used to test the heating and cooling functions, in addition to the water mixing. Heat exchange between the two tanks proved efficient, while achieving the desired temperature. Scalability to real-world applications is investigated, while exploring many feasible extensions and improvements to the proposed system.
