Herein, structural, magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of TbCo2Si2 polycrystalline alloy are investigated. From the temperature dependent magnetization curve, TbCo2Si2 alloy is found to undergo a second order antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition at Neel temperature (TN)=46 K. Magnetic entropy change (ΔSM) for the alloy is estimated in a broad temperature region of 5 K -150 K and a maximum value of ΔSM about 1.8 Jkg−1K-−1 with relative cooling power ∼ 42.84 J/kg is found across its TN due to a magnetic field changes of 5 T. The material will be useful for magnetic refrigeration technology.
