Study on chemical constituents of Potentilla discolor

OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents of the whole plant of Potentilla discolor Bunge. METHODS Repeated chro-matographies of silicagel column, highly porous resin R-A,and Sephadex LH - 20 were employed for the isolation and purification. The structures of the constituents were elucidated by the spectral analysis.RESULTS Six compounds were identified as ursolic acid (Ⅰ) ,2α,3β-di-hydroxyl-urs-12-en-28-oic acid(Ⅱ), euscaphic acid(Ⅲ), tormentic acid(Ⅳ),β-sitosteriol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(Ⅴ) and β-sitosterol (Ⅵ) .CONCLUSION All compounds are isolated from this plant for the first time.
