摘要
Information about the magnetic properties of van der Waals ferromagnets comes so far largely from macroscopic techniques, with much less being known about the magnetism at the microscopic level. By comparing atomic-scale imaging of domain walls at the surface of the van der Waals ferromagnet Fe${}_{3\ensuremath{-}x}$GeTe${}_{2}$ with inelastic neutron scattering measurements of the magnon dispersion in the bulk, the authors elucidate here the interplay between the bulk and surface magnetism and image the low-energy electronic structure.
