International Journal of Applied And Basic Medical Research: Decade-old journey of journal

A decade ago, the first issue of International Journal of Applied and Basic Medical Research (IJABMR) was released in 2011. The Journal was launched with the objectives of providing a platform to the researchers to showcase their research findings, particularly in the field of interdisciplinary, multidimensional, and integrated research, a vision and mission of the parent association – Basic Medical Scientists Association.[1] The Journal was received well both in academic and in research circles. The policy of building an editorial team of renowned academicians and researchers across the globe, accepting scholarly articles, and having well-established reviewers paid-off, and the Journal received PubMed indexing during its 2nd year of launch itself. All issues and all full articles are indexed in PubMed regularly.[2] All full articles along with pdf versions are freely accessible. For the first 4 years, IJABMR was a biannual journal only.[3] Due to overwhelming response, the first supplementary issue of the Journal was published in the 4th year of publication. Fifth volume of the Journal had three regular issues and one special issue on medical education.[4] From its 6th Volume onward, IJABMR is a quarterly journal. Till now, three special (supplementary) issues have been published. Of these, two were specifically on medical education. During initial years, articles related to clinical and basic research were only accepted, but for the last few years, IJABMR has started accepting articles in the field of health professions education also. During its 10-year journey, IJABMR has increased its base progressively. The Journal is included in University Grants Commission CARE list. Its readership, scope, reviewers list, and editorial team have expanded enormously, since its launch. In days to come, hopefully, it will expand its scope across all fields of healthcare and will continue to provide integrated platform to researchers across the globe. Why an editorial dedicated to brief journey of the Journal for the first 10 years of its launch is being published? Why major milestones are being highlighted in an abridged manner? Well, idea is to motivate ourselves by reinforcing journal's achievements so as to improve with time, to reinstate the fact that we are with our readers and will continue to serve them with their support and to pay tributes to our readers, reviewers, and editors.
