Models of Information Seeking on the World Wide Web

Having examined the intranet as an IT infrastructure for knowledge work and the need for system designers to adopt an information behavioral/ecological approach to intranet design, we now turn our attention away from intranets and towards the broader utilization of the World Wide Web as an information seeking platform. Our focus in this section of the book is on the activities people take when they use the Web as an information source or channel. Specifically in this chapter, we present an overview of the different approaches and models to studying information seeking on the World Wide Web.
