In this chapter, the essential concepts of developing a finite element, human head model are addressed. The goal is to help a reader who has basic finite element and biomechanics knowledge to efficiently master key concepts for developing high-quality, human head models. Specifically, a reader will be able to address the following questions: What are the key knowledge and skills needed in developing a human head model from scratch? And, how do we improve the quality of an existent model? Further, if given an opportunity to choose a head model out of available ones, what is the evaluation strategy that a user can develop to decide on the best model for the projects in mind?
