摘要
The transmission of a subwavelength double slit in a perfect electric conductor is calculated. Near-field interference of electromagnetic waves at the surface of the metal modulates the total transmission as a function of slit separation. These results show that surface plasmons are not required to see a near-field interference effect in the double-slit experiment. The results are compared and contrasted with the past calculations for a single slit, showing a shift in the Fabry–Perot resonances with respect to the single slit.
