A review of the environmental factors affecting optical cable design

The main environmental factors considered are fiber bending loss, hydrogen loss degradation, and stress corrosion. The major bending and stress corrosion mechanisms that affect fibers are first discussed. Then each of the environmental factors is examined with respect to its impact on optical cable design.< >
