摘要
Halogenated methanes such as chloroform, bromoform, dichloromethane, tetrachloromethane, etc. are fundamental chemicals showing widespread application in chemical and many related industries. Conventionally, the most common application of these chemicals is acting as a solvent in many different areas. The utility of these halogenated methanes as synthetic substrates in organic reactions has received much less attention. Considering the potentially broad transformation pathways in the C–halogen bond, exploring the application of halomethanes as C1 source in organic synthesis is highly promising. Herein, an overview on the synthetic application of dichloromethane, tetrachloromethane, chloroform, bromoform, and some other related halomethanes as C1 sources in organic synthesis is presented, which is expected to offer some guides in future development of practical synthesis by using halomethanes.
