By Cayul, IR Source:REVISTA ESTUDIOS HEMISFERICOS Y POLARES Volume13Issue2Page40-57 Published JUL-DEC 2022 Abstract The following article presents a reflection on education with and in nature, based on the experience of alternatives schools in Chile and reflecting on three great educators, Gabriela Mistral, Rudolf Steiner and Celestin Freinet. Through semi-structured interviews with founders of five alternatives schools in the north, centre and south of Chile. After having codified and established major categories, we will present three selected categories that are relevant to education with and in nature. The results show us that the relationship with nature is expressed in declarative terms in their projects, both in the ideology of the schools and in the place that children's emotions occupy in the daily life of the establishments; in the location of the schools in the middle of forests, coastal and rural areas; as well as in the investigative outings in the open air. |
