By: Schmeisser, Martin; Dahmen, Kurt; Sartori, Peter By oxidation of iodine with fuming HNO3 in the presence of perfluorocarboxylic acid anhydrides, I(OCOCF3)3 and I(OCOC3F7)3 are obtained. The analogous oxidation of iodine in the presence of pentafluoroperbenzoic acid and (CF3CO)2O gave I(OCOC6F5)3. Similarly pentafluoroiodobenzene (I) gave C6F5I(OCOCF3)2 (II), C6F5I(OCOC6F5)2 (III) and C6F5I(OCOC3F7)2 (IV). II, III, and IV are reduced by aqueous KI solution to give I, and hydrolyzed by saturated aqueous NaHCO3 solution to C6F5IO. Ir spectra showed the excessive covalent bond inside the structure I-O-CO-RF. In the presence of pyridine, iodine and CF3CO2Ag in C6H6 gave pyridine-iodine(I)-trifluoroacetate, and iodine and C6F5CO2Ag gave pyridine-iodine(I) pentafluorobenzoate. |
