PREPARATION OF THIN METAL FOILS FROM ALKALI AND ALKALI EARTH METALS

Two methods for preparing thin foil targets of alkali and alkaline earth metals are described: the method of azide disintegration and the method of thermal reduction of oxides by metallic lanthanum in vacuum. Prepared calcium foils were irradiated with 5.4 and 6.8 Mev protons at currents of 10/sup -9/ to 10/sup -10/ amp. (R.V.J.)
