A Cd 2+ -induced modulation strategy elicits Eu 3+ fluorescence from absence to emergence within HNU-72. The incorporation of Cd 2+ reconfigures energy transfer pathways, enabling efficient fluorescence ratiometric sensing of dimethyl sulfide.
