摘要
Abstract The problem of bacterial infections in general, and in medical devices in particular, has led to extensive research to produce antibacterial coatings. The current research presents a unique technique for imparting antibacterial properties to contact lenses. The coating consists of nanoparticles of zinc‐doped copper oxide. In the coating process, active nanoparticles are formed and immediately deposited onto the surface of the contact lens. The coating thus formed is homogeneous and stable, without leaching of the nanoparticles. The antibacterial activity was evaluated against Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria. The optimization of the coating process has led to a smaller particle size and good antibacterial activity.
