Strength calculation of the centrifugal fan based on ANSYS fluid-structure interaction

The centrifugal fan is an important rotation part on the motor,which must have sufficient strength and rigidity to ensure the safe operation of the motor sustained and effective.With the increasing of capacity and the diameters of the fan,the fan needs higher requirements on its strength and stiffness.The traditional calculation method cannot have satisfied the requirements.Besides centrifugal force the fan blade high wind pressure which plays an important role on strengthe and stiffness of fan when the fan runs.Base on ANSYS fluid-structure interaction,the present paper analysis the centrifugal fan strength and stiffness respectively and made a detailed comparison of the results to prove the improtance of fluidstructure interaction in fan strength as well as stiffness desgin,and take a centrifugal fan of a certain variable speed constant frequency 1.5 MW wind power generator as an example.The results show that the flow field of centrifugal fan has a great influence on the strength and stiffness.This study is helpful for the design f centrifugal fan and for characterization of the strength and stiffness properties of centrifugal fan.
