OBJECTIVE To investigate the chemical constituents of mangrove associated Catunaregam spinosa.METHODS The compounds were isolated and purified by various modern chromatography techniques and their structures were elucidated by spectral analysis.RESULTS Twelve lignan compounds were obtained from the stem bark of Chinese mangrove associate C.spinosa.and elucidated as erythro-guaiacylglycerol-β-coniferyl ether(Ⅰ),threo-guaiacylglycerol-β-coniferyl ether(Ⅱ),erythro-guaiacylglycerol-β-coniferyl aldehyde ether(Ⅲ),threo-guaiacylglycerol-β-coniferyl aldehyde ether(Ⅳ),erythro-guaiacylglycerol-β-ferulic acid ether(Ⅴ),threo-guaiacylglycerol-β-ferulic acid ether(Ⅵ),isolariciresinol(Ⅶ),lyoniresinol(Ⅷ),5′-methoxyisolariciresinol(Ⅸ),(7R,8S) ficusal(Ⅹ),balanophonin(Ⅺ) and 5″-methoxy-4″-O-(8-guaiacylglycerol) buddlenol A(Ⅻ).CONCLUSION Twelve compounds were all obtained from Catunaregam genus for the first time.
