Syntheses and Room Temperature Phosphorescence Properties of Dibenzobenzodithiophenes and Dibenzothiophenes

Abstract A new family of heavy-atom-free room-temperature phosphorescent compounds, dibenzobenzodithiophenes (DBDTs) have been synthesized and characterized. The afterglow of the regioisomeric compounds has been investigated in a polymer matrix. Furthermore, it has been revealed that much simpler dibenzothiophenes display room-temperature phosphorescence in a polymeric matrix.
