Information Seeking Behaviour of Faculty of Chitkara University (Punjab): A Case Study

Information needs and information seeking have been of interest to Library and Information Science Professionals (LISPs) for facilitating quality and customized library and information services to users. The analysis of information seeking behaviour and preferences of users allow the LISPs to design and develop the library and information services according to users' needs. The present paper provides an insight into the information seeking behaviour of the faculty of University. The faculty's purpose of seeking information, sources of information, preferred place of accessing information, use of search engines, etc. have been examined. The influence of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) over the information seeking behaviour of teachers has been explored. The problems faced by faculty members in gathering information have also been discussed.
