Effects of magnetic bead auricular therapy combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine emotional nursing on improving sleep quality among breast cancer patients losing sleep

Objective To explore the effects of magnetic bead auricular therapy combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) emotional nursing on improving sleep quality among breast cancer patients losing sleep. Methods From March 2016 to April 2019, this study selected 152 breast cancer patients losing sleep at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University as subjects by convenient sampling. All of patients were divided into observation group and control group with the random number table according to admission order, 76 cases in each group. Control group carried out routine nursing, while observation group implemented magnetic bead auricular therapy combined with TCM emotional nursing. Sleep quality, pain and negative emotions of patients between two groups were evaluated with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) , Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) , Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) respectively. Besides, the effective rate of sleep quality intervention and incidence of adverse reaction of patients were compared between two groups. Results The effective rate of sleep quality intervention in observation group was 90.79% (69/76) higher than that (78.95%, 60/76) in control group with a statistical difference (P<0.05) . One and three weeks after intervention, the scores of PSQI of observation group were lower than those of control group with statistical differences (P<0.05) . After intervention, the scores of VAS, HAMA and HAMD of observation group were lower than those of control group with statistical differences (P<0.05) . Conclusions Magnetic bead auricular therapy combined with TCM emotional nursing can effectively improve sleep quality of breast cancer patients losing sleep, ease pain and negative emotions which is worthy of being clinical popularization and practice.
