Ammonium treatment in slaughter-house wastewater using the combination of partial nitritation/Anammox process

Wastewater rich in nitrogen compounds wastewater would have a negative impact on water source without treatment. The technology based on the combination of partial nitritation and anammox was developed to treat ammonium in wastewater. Study of ammonium removal in slaughter-house wastewater in 1 single reactor using poly acrylic and bath ball carriers was conducted. Experimental results showed that the model operated well with ammonium removal efficiency reaching 92% and 87.8% at N-NH4 loading rate of 0.04 kgN-NH4/m3.d and 0.14 kgN-NH4/m3.d, respectively.
