It is very important to study catalysts with a good microwave absorption capacity and catalytic capacity for tar catalytic reforming by microwave-assisted heating. In this paper, olivine was used as catalysts in a small fixed-bed reactor for experimental study. The experimental results show that the calcination temperature of olivine has an effect on hydrogen production from microwave-assisted catalytic reforming tar. In the range of 650–1,000°C, tar conversion and hydrogen product concentration first increase and then decrease with the increase of calcination temperature of olivine. The optimum calcination temperature was 900°C. The study also found that olivine catalyst has better tar catalytic reforming effects than charcoal catalyst.
