O-BODIPYs as fluorescent labels for sugars: glucose, xylose and ribose

Fluorescent 1 : 1, 1 : 2 and 1 : 3 sugar-O-BODIPY conjugates of glucose, xylose and ribose were characterised by 1 H– 11 B HMBC and 11 B NMR to discriminate between boron bound to 1,2-, 1,3- or 1,4-diol sites and furanose/pyranose sugar forms.
