摘要
In this chapter we review the major features of most of the classic murine models of SLE. Included are the current widely used models such as NZB/NZWF1, MRL/lpr, Sle1,2,3 and pristane-induced models. SLE induced or prevented by manipulation of single genes is also discussed. For the reader who wants the executive summary, please see Tables 1, 2 and 3 in which we summarize clinical, immune and genetic features of each strain. Virtually every strain that develops spontaneous lupus-like disease has multiple genetic contributions which are updated and described by Dr. Kono. The outcomes of therapeutic interventions are also discussed; most of the currently used therapeutic approaches have been tested in mouse models. SLE in dogs and cats is also described; there is little new that is published in those species.
