Clinic study of Ki-67 in differential diagnosis of pathological scars

Objective To evaluate the expression and its significance of Ki-67 in pathological scars and normal skins.Methods We investigated the expression of Ki-67 in 47 hyperplastic scars,22 cheloid tissues,and 16 normal skins.Results The Ki-67 expression in pathological scars was significantly higher than that of normal skins;while the expression in cheloids was higher than that of hyperplastic scars.Conclusion There are different proliferation characters of fibroblast cells in hyperplastic scar,cheloids and normal skin.Scar hyperplasia is positively correlated with cell proliferation.Ki-67 expression could be useful in differential diagnosis of the hyperplastic scars and cheloids.
