The study of transvaginal ultrasound sonographic features of ovarian chocolate cyst

Objective To observe the sonographic features of ovarian chocolate cyst (OCC) by transvaginal ultrasound sonography, to conclude the important diagnostic characteristics of sonogram and to greatly improve the accuracy of diagnosis in OCC.Methods Using HP Image Point Utrasound Imaging system with a 7.5 MHZ endovaginal probe, direct/indirect sonographic signs of OCC were obtined and the important diagnostic characteristics were concluded. All the patients underwent laparotomy or laparoscopy and diagnosed by pathological examinations.Results Among all 98 cases who had been diagnosed as OCC by means of pre operative transvaginal ultrasound, 93 cases were supported by patholgical results, 5 cases were misdiagnosed.Diagnostic accuracy 94.8%. Conclusions Transvaginal ultrasound is of practical value in the diagnosis in OCC.To master the sonographic features and the important diagnostic characteristics may greatly improve the accuracy of diagnosis in OCC.
