Strategies for the Chinese in their English Communication

English is of importance in the globalized economy,as all the intercultural communications are conducted in English.As a result of the differences between the Chinese and Western cultures,the Chinese frequently commit 'cultural errors' in their communication in English,which brings about 'culture shock'.This paper analyzes and discusses the strategies for the Chinese to have in their English communication by means of social linguistics and intercultural communication.It summarizes that only when they are familiar with the conflicts between Chinese and Western cultures,the difference in pragmatic rules between Chinese and English,and the communicative forms between Chinese and Westerners can Chinese people improve their competence of intercultural communication in English and carry it out successfully.
