Ultrafine zinc aluminate powders with a spinel structure were prepared via an improved co-precipitation.The thermal stability of ZnAl2O4 precursor was characterized by TG-DTA.XRD and SEM measurements were used to determine the structure and texture of the obtained ZnAl2O4 powders. It was found that the surfactant played a critical role in the formation of ultrafine ZnAl2O4.Under the action of CTAB in the precursor solution, the obtained spinel ZnAl2O4 powders were small and uniform in size and disperse perfectly.Furthermore, the crystallization increased and the particle size of zinc aluminate grew up gradually following the increase of the annealing temperature.Photoluminescence(PL) measurements were used to characterize luminescence performance of the samples.Analysis results showed that the effects of CTAB on the photoluminescence properties of the samples were greatly obvious.
