Early detection and accuracy of fetal growth restriction is very important in prenatal care, because FGR fetuses may suffer increased risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality. Liver size check might be one of the important parameters of fetal growth like conventional sonographic method for fetal weight. A prospective study using 3D XI VOCAL that to assess the efficacy of fetal liver volume in predicting FGR was performed. 3D XI VOCAL 13 fetuses with FGR and 89 fetuses without FGR were included in this study. Our results revealed that fetal liver volume assessed by 3D XI VOCAL can differentiate well fetuses with FGR from those without FGR. The sensitivity of fetal liver volume in predicting fetal growth restriction was 96%, with specificity 89% and accuracy 95%. Fetal liver volume assessed by 3D XI VOCAL can be used and provides an objective method to predict fetuses with fetal growth restriction antenatally. Its predictive values are impressive and allow better discrimination between fetuses with FGR and fetuses without FGR
