Pertumbuhan Ayam Broiler, Kampung, dan Backcross3 (Gallus gallus domesticus Linnaeus, 1758) Berdasarkan Morfometri Struktur Histologis Duodenum dan Jejunum

Broiler and Pelung were crossed to improve the growth performance of local chickens. Parameters that can be used to measure the quality of the chickens� growth are morphometric, histological structure of the duodenum and jejunum of the small intestine. This research were purposed to study the quality of growth performance of Pelung, Broiler, and Backcross3 chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus Linnaeus, 1758) based on morphometric, histological structure of duodenum and jejunum. BC3 chicken was acquired by crossing �BC2 brown > < � BC1 red. Observations were made on 35 and 49 days old chickens. Chickens were slaughtered. Duodenum and jejunum of the small intestine were removed and meassured. One centimeter of duodenum and jejunum were fixed in 10% formalin and processed by the paraffin method. Hematoksilin-Eosin and PAS - AB were used to stain 6 µm of duodenum and jejunum sliced. Based on relative weight and length of duodenum and jejunum of Pelung and Broiler chickens at 49 days old did not show significant development, while jejunum and duodenum of BC3 still show some development. The ratio of villus-crypte of Pelung and Broiler chickens were higher than that of BC3. The number of Goblet cell of Pelung, Broiler, and BC3 were increased at the age of 49. The composition of mucin (acid and mixtures) of Pelung and Broiler at the age of 35 and 49 days did not show any differences. Mucin composition of BC3 (BC2 x F1) at 35 old consist of acid and mixtures. However mucin composition of BC3 (BC2x BC1) at 35 and 49 days old consist of acid and mixtures.The conclusion of this study showed that growth quality of BC3 which was reviewed by morphometric, histological structure of the duodenum and jejunum better than Pelung chicken, but not as good as the quality of Broiler chickens.
