The Effect of Chemical Inhibitors on Sprouting of Potatoes

[Objective] The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of two chemical inhibitors on sprouting of potato during room temperature storage.[Method] Three different growing stages potatoes varieties Jin 14,Longshu3,Favorit tubers were spraied maleic hydrazide and chlorprophame inhibitor on tuber surface,then stored in room temperature.The sprouting rate,rate of weight loss and rate of decay of tuber were investigated after five months storage.[Result] The results showed no significant differences in rate of inhibit bud,weight loss and decay between treatment and control,when 0.1% maleic hydrazide was spraried on leaves before 14 d harvest.However,the rate of inhibit bud,weight loss and decay were significant differences between treatment and control after 600 mg/kg 2.5 % CIPC spraied on tuber.[Conclusion] CIPC is a kind effective sprouting inhibitor,600 mg/kg 2.5% CIPC spraying on tuber can inhibit potato sprouting decay and in room temperature.
