Extrusion process is one of the main means of forming lightweight and low plastic magnesium alloy components. In order to solve the long-term bottlenecks which restrict the rapid development of magnesium alloy extrusion forming technology, such as small process window, high energy consumption, difficulty in shape/property coordination control, single product structure and function, new processes and methods are constantly emerging and applied. Compared with the traditional magnesium alloy extrusion forming technology, the effects of deep fine grain modification and load reduction are achieved by the way of exquisite design of die structure or split billet combination mode and the transformation of die movement or loading mode. High-speed and low-temperature extrusion are realized from the perspective of new alloy composition design. The manufacturing of magnesium alloy arc and its solid-state connection with heterogeneous alloy sheet are realized by improving the tooling structure. In addition, the solid phase recovery and regeneration of magnesium alloy waste can also be carried out by extrusion process. It provides scientific guidance and technical reserves for accelerating the development of deep processing technology of magnesium and its alloys, and it also expands the application range of high value-added magnesium alloy products.
