Separation of acetic acid/water mixture over dilute acetic acid by distillation was conducted, and the effects of several variables such as surface tension, pro duct purity, and reflux ratio on the theoretical stages in the column were studi ed. Further refining of acetic acid at a low concentration range wouled bring a bout a great increase in theoretical stages for distillation. It was found that distillation coupled pervaporation could be an alternative for acetic acid remo val from acetic acid/water mixture.
