摘要
The papaya crop is severely affected by papaya ringsopt virus (PRSV) worldwide. Although there are many measures to control the destructiveness of the disease caused by PRSV, they are not very feasible. The concept of parasite derived resistance offered a new approach for controlling PRSV. This review focused on the parameters affecting papaya transformation and resistance of transgenic papaya in recent years. The embryogenic tissues were often used as targets in transgenic papaya; the physiological state of the tissue and genotype used for transformation had an effect on transformation efficiency and the quality of resultant transgenic plants. The level of resistance in the transgenic papaya depended on transgene copy number, the level of sequence homology and the position of sequence similarity between the coat protein of transgene and the coat protein of challenge isolates.
