Wireless Power Transfer Systems: Thévenin Equivalent Circuits for Parallel-Series and Parallel-Parallel Magnetic Resonator Configurations

This paper presents equivalent Thévenin circuits for two connections (parallel-series (ps) and parallel-parallel (pp)), for the magnetic coupling coils (resonators), used in wireless active power transfer. Using the Circuit Symbolic Analysis Program, the equivalent voltage generator in respect of the load terminals in full symbolic form is obtained. It could be seen that all the parameters of the Thévenin generator depend on all the circuit parameters and on the frequency. Based on the maximum active power transfer theorem, the optimal load parameters (connected to the terminals of the receiver coil) are obtained.
