An experimental study is conducted to investigate the fluid flow and mixing characteristics of a denitrification static mixer. The static mixer consists of two vanes(vane angle of 30°, 45° and 60°) in a grid and two different nozzle type single nozzle and multi-nozzle is applied to investigate mixing characteristics. The flow uniformity and mixing process in the static mixer is analyzed by the measurements of a velocity distribution, turbulence intensity, fluid visualization and distribution of CO₂ concentration. The flow and mixing characteristics are position affected by the vane angle. For the vane angle(α) of 30°, relatively high velocity and turbulence intensity variation is obtained. In case of α=60°, low pressure drop is obtained between before and after the static mixer. Mixing is enhanced by the installation of static mixer for the all vane angles.
