Rapid economic development has increased the demand for energy. Fossil energy is the main energy source used by the economic sector today, and it is still widely used. This energy comes from a limited source where it will run out sooner or later. Renewable energy, such as solar and wind energy, is an alternative to fossil fuels. It is an infinite source of energy. However, the output voltage of solar energy is inconsistent. To overcome these voltage variations, the basic circuit by using the MC34063 buck-boost converter and the LM7815 voltage regulator are combined to generate a fixed output voltage of 15 V when a given input voltage varies between 5 V to 21 V. Multisim software is used to simulate the circuit design. In addition, Eagle CAD software is used to develop the circuit layout. Once the circuit is finalized and optimized, it is fabricated onto a printed circuit board (PCB) of 2-layer FR4 substrate. Testing and troubleshooting is done in the application of the photovoltaic system. The proposed designed buck-boost converter is used to produce an output voltage of 15 V to charge the 12 V sealed lead acid battery, where the source of energy comes from the solar panel. The outcome of this project shows that the Buck-Boost converter able to produce a stable output voltage of 15 V to be applied to photovoltaic and wind power with an input voltage that varies between 5 V and 21 V.
